King

JUNEAU  |  1 ACRE  |  CONSERVED IN 2002

An example of the work being done on accreted land near the Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge, is the King easement. Donated in December of 2002 by Jim and Mary Lou King, this 1-acre conservation easement seeks to protect accreted land bordering the Refuge. Home to a plethora of bird species it creates a buffer along a part of the Refuge boundary for the continued preservation of this unique urban wetland system and continued enjoyment for the public.
