At
its December 20th meeting the Board of Directors voted unanimously
to accept four new Board members. They are Roman Motyka,
Research Associate Professor of Geology and Geophysics at the University
of Alaska; Jon Tillinghast, attorney at Simpson, Tillinghast, Sorensen
& Longenbaugh; and Andrea Doll, campaign organizer and fundraiser;
and Reed Stoops, legislative lobbyist and businessman. We are very
pleased to have such distinguished community leaders join our ranks.
The entire membership of the Southeast Alaska Land Trust extends
its appreciation to these volunteers for their willingness to advance
conservation goals in the region. Your individual and collective
contributions will be appreciated for generations. Congratulations
and welcome to the Southeast Alaska Land Trust Board.
Frank Rue, appointed Board President
At its annual meeting on January 24th, the SEALTrust Board of Directors
cast a unanimous vote for Frank Rue as our new Board President.
Frank replaces outgoing President and long-time Board member, Mike
Grummett. Patricia Harris, Sally Ryan, and Michael Hekkers retained
their seats as Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
Frank graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, worked as
a volunteer for the Connecticut chapter of The Nature Conservancy
and has a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the
University of Massachusetts. In Alaska since 1977, Frank has worked
for the State as a community and land planner; as the Director of
the Habitat Division and is recently retired from his position as
Commissioner of Fish and Game. He is now working as a private consultant.
Frank brings a lot of experience, enthusiasm and new ideas to post.
Be sure to congratulate Frank and share with him your ideas for
conservation when you see him around town.
