Fish and Wildlife Grant

The Fish and Wildlife Service recently awarded us $17,500 for the year 2004 to pursue conservation easements in Juneau and Petersburg. Under the Southeast Alaska Coastal Conservation Program we have funding to appraise the value of a conservation easement for the Boy Scout property. The appraisal is a necessary component towards the application and award of a National Coastal Wetland Conservation Grant to purchase the conservation easement. The grant also provides funds in support of gathering information for the baseline report and conservation easement specific to the Murgas property in Petersburg. As part of the process, the land trust will also make necessary contacts and facilitate discussions among impacted landowners and agencies and interested parties to advance the planning and commitment to a trail location and design.
