Landscape Initiatives

The Southeast Alaska Land Trust has taken the lead for conservation and cooperative management of several large tracks of land under mixed private and public ownership. Our motivation in these landscape initiatives is to maintain the exceptional habitat, recreational or cultural values of these special places. The overall focus is to develop communication between land owners, managers and stakeholders to achieve the long-term conservation of the vital natural areas within them that are important to the people and wildlife of Southeast Alaska. Juneau’s Green Zone project located out the road and the Accreted Land project surrounding the Mendenhall State Game Refuge are current landscape initiatives.
